1. What is Alumni Career Services?
The mission of The University of Iowa Marvin A. and Rose Lee Pomerantz Career Center is a world-class facility with a national reputation for excellence and a proven track record in building relationships with corporations and organizations in Iowa, across the United States and beyond. Our mission is to prepare University of Iowa undergraduate students and alumni to maximize their potential through innovative career strategy advising, superior internship opportunities, and early direct contact with representatives of corporate America, national and local government, and businesses both large and small.

2. What services does Pomerantz Career Center offer alumni?
Alumni Career Services is available for alums looking for a new job or thinking about a career change. New college graduates can begin using Alumni Career Services 6 months after graduation.

3. Can the Career Center find me a job?
Pomerantz Career Center does not provide job placement services, but we offer tools and strategies to “maximize your potential” and success.

5. Does Alumni Career Services offer individual appointments?
Yes, these appointments are available both in person and by telephone. The Pomerantz Career Center is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. To schedule an appointment or for more information about services, please call 319-335-1023.

6. Can alumni still use on-campus recruiting and resources?
Alums are welcome and encouraged to use the on-campus recruiting services and attend the spring and fall career fairs. It is important to note that these services are designed specifically for current students. Relevance to the experienced job seeker will vary on a case-by-case basis.

7. What is UI Employment Expo?
UI Employment Expo is an online recruiting system designed to connect students and alumni with employers during the recruiting process. The system allows students/alumni to upload resumes/cover letters, search and apply for jobs (and internships) and learn about each organization in the system. Employers can post full-time jobs and internships, search student/alumni resumes and manage interview schedules.

8. Can alumni use UI Employment Expo?
Yes, for a $20.00 annual fee, alumni can create an account to help in their career search. Alumni Association members receive free access to the system.

Are there volunteer opportunities for Alumni? Yes, we encourage alumni to volunteer their professional expertise as part of the Iowa Career Exploration Network.

9. What is ICE-Net?
Networking is key to building a successful career, and the Iowa Career Exploration Network (ICE-Net) can help. This online database connects undergraduate UI students in search of guidance and information with over 500 alumni and professionals already established in their professions. This is a great way to network with UI alumni of the University from targeted geographic regions, occupations, and majors/degree areas.
