About Us

The University of Iowa Civic Engagement Program (CEP) strengthens students’ learning opportunities by linking the University’s teaching, research, and service mission to community needs and strengths. Part of the University’s Pomerantz Career Center, the program assists students as they develop into civic-minded community members, further preparing them to be successful in their careers and as active citizens of the future.

Mission

The Civic Engagement Program prepares students for community leadership and citizenship. In doing so, CEP helps connect students, faculty members and staff with communities, responds to community needs and opportunities, and serves as a portal to the University for community organizations seeking student involvement.

Vision

The Civic Engagement Program is a well-recognized and energetic portal that actively promotes students' life-long citizenship and learning through service, enhances public engagement scholarship, and strengthens vital community partnerships. The Civic Engagement Program is a bridge that connects the campus and communities for the common good.
