Thank you for your interest in partnering with
us…
The Civic Engagement Program at The University of Iowa
is excited about partnering with you to provide volunteer
and service learning opportunities that will engage UI
students, faculty, and staff in helping to meet community
needs.
With your help, we can increase numbers of students
involved in volunteering and service learning.
The service experiences your organization provides
can help develop the academic and career interests of
UI students.
Community service provides an important link between
classroom learning and civic responsibility.
Volunteer Center of Johnson County Website
The Volunteer
Center of Johnson Countywebsite is a
project of the United Way of Johnson County and the
Iowa Volunteer Center of Johnson County. The University
of Iowa Civic Engagement Program and the 10,000 Hours
Show are proud to work in partnership with United Way
to provide a resource that community-based organizations
can use free of charge to post information about their
missions and their volunteer needs.
If you are a local, nonprofit organization and
you are currently not registered on the site, please
take time to register on the Volunteer Center of Johnson
County website today using the steps below:
Look for the "Login" section and click on
the link that reads, "We have a separate login for
agencies."
Under the heading "New Agencies" click on
the link that says "Register here!" and follow
the steps.
Make sure to have the following information ready:
Primary agency contact's up-to-date email, phone number
and address, password for your agency to later update
their information, employer Identification Number (EIN
- this is optional however), agency's mission statement,
agency description of services statement, coordinator's
name, phone, and address for each listing, title of
listings, descriptions, and dates (where applicable)
At least one volunteer opportunity posting is required
when you register.
Note: As you go through the process of registering,
you will be offered options to affiliate your organization
with The 10,000 Hours Show and/or The University of Iowa
Civic Engagement Program. You may choose one or both to
be assured of an invitation to the Volunteer Fairs held
each semester at The University of Iowa. You'll know you've
done this step correctly if one or both of these medallions/icons show
up by your organization's listing after you've registered.
The Iowa City Area Volunteer Center web site is a well-recognized
free resource for local nonprofit organizations. Your
organization does NOT need to be a United Way organization
to use the web site! It is a point of referral for potential
volunteers all year long. Joining the Iowa City Area Volunteer
Center website will greatly enhance the visibility of your
organization and make your volunteer opportunities known
to a wide and varied audience of potential volunteers.
