What Can I Do With a Major in... Accounting
|
A bachelor’s or master’s degree (BS, BBA, or MAc) in accounting qualifies a student for a long career in accounting and its related fields. Such fields include public, managerial, governmental, and institutional accounting. Public accounting focuses on governmental and non-profit services. By contrast, private accounting positions range from major in house auditing to private personal tax preparation. Whether pursuing a career in the public or private sector, many accounting careers utilize computers. Specialized software packages allow accountants to summarize transactions and organize data in special formats for financial analysis. Accountants are also beginning to perform more technical duties, including control and auditing systems and networks, and developing technology plans and budgets.
