Alumni Spotlight: Wendy Ausdemore

Alumni Spotlight: Rob Rouwenhorst

Students seeking a degree in marketing can study a wide range of activities which include, but are not limited to, consumer behavior, sales, advertising, and marketing research.  These practices can be applied to both national and international careers.  A critical function of marketing is relationship building with customers. Marketing majors are often found with job titles such as fundraiser, buyer, consultant, market research analyst, and account executive.

Retail is another industry that is attractive to marketing graduates. As the retail and sales industry becomes more sophisticated, salaries and benefits of those in the industry have increased.

Marketing majors are held in high regard by managers and other sales professionals which can result in a great deal of job competition.  Graduates will have the best opportunities for jobs if they have previous job or internship experience in the field, have computer skills, and have strong interpersonal communication skills.  Successful marketing majors are creative and have strong persuasive skills. They also enjoy working on or creating new products.
