STUDENTS Find Full-Time Employment

Establishing a career plan so that you can make informed career choices begins early in your college career. The first step is to visit the Pomerantz Career Center, either to meet with a Peer Advisor or a Career Advisor.

A Peer Advisor is a student trained to be able to assist you with your career search. Career Advisors are professional staff members that can help you establish a career path, choose a major, and develop job search strategies.

A student Peer Advisor and/or Career Advisor can help you:

  • Take an interest assessment to understand your personality better and how you may fit into the workplace, or how you can interview more effectively
  • Prepare your cover letter and resume
  • Prepare for an interview
  • Sign up for UI Employment Expo (online recruiting system where you can upload your resume, search for jobs and internships, and apply for on-campus interviews).
  • Develop individual job search strategies
  • Understand job offers
  • Prepare for a Career Fair
