Skills Assessment/Pre-Resume Workshop — Students will take stock of knowledge and skills their major is providing them as the first step toward building their resume.  Topics covered will also include what skills employers are looking for and career outlook information.

Career Planning for Your Discipline — A discussion of strategies, including a "menu" of experiential activities designed to help students achieve their career and/or graduate school goals.  Customize this program to fit your group or discipline.

The Career "Test Drive": Internships, Externships and Informational Interviews — Topics covered will include: what constitutes a UI internship, resources to find an internship, how to "test drive" a career, networking your internship into a full-time position, and adding skill sets to your resume.

You're Gone? We're There! — Are you going to be gone and need to cancel your class? — DON'T.  With advance scheduling, a Career Center representative can present a program to your students that will ensure they make good use of the time you are away.  (These programs require at least three weeks advance notice).

Employer/Alumni Panel — Employers and/or Alumni share their career experiences and offer advice to current students.  The panel is moderated by a Career Center advisor.  (These programs require at least three weeks advance notice).

Creating a Dynamic Resume (and Cover Letter) — Students will learn how to write effective resumes tailored their specific career area.  How to write a concise and targeted cover letter is also discussed along with other topics such as the difference between a written and electronic resume, thank you letters, email correspondence, and researching companies.

Job Search Methods for the New Millennium (this presentation requires use of the internet) This program centers on the different methods used to locate career opportunities.  Researching companies, web-based research, and networking are just a few of the topics covered in this essential program.

Interviewing Tips — "What are the differences between behavioral and traditional interviews?", "How do you handle a phone interview?", "How do you dress for an interview?", and "What questions should I ask?", are all covered in this informative and interactive program.
