Participants should complete Session 1 before attending Session 2.

Designed by the Pomerantz Career Center, the Career Connector training series engages faculty and staff in a tailored curriculum designed to provide knowledge about the career development process and the foundations of employability, as well as teaching best practices for having career conversations with students. Participants will learn valuable helping skills, goal setting techniques, ethical practices, and how best to make referrals to the Pomerantz Career Center. Career Connectors takes a hands-on and practical approach to training. It is comprised of a comprehensive three-part training program designed to prepare our faculty and staff to better assist students in their career exploration, experiential education, and preparedness for the job search or graduate school process. We provide real-world examples, case studies, ideas for the classroom, and interactive exercises to ensure that faculty and staff gain actionable knowledge they can immediately apply in their roles as career connectors. Participants will learn valuable helping skills, goal setting techniques, ethical practices, and how best to make referrals to the Pomerantz Career Center.

In Session 2, participants will:

  • Gain insights about the importance of experiential education
  • Learn best practices for facilitating meaningful experiences for students
  • Increase understanding around ways students can find experiential learning opportunities and available resources.
